Eligibility:

To qualify for services, an individual must possess a diagnosis of a developmental disability as defined by OMRDD. The onset of the disability must occur prior to the age of 22. Such diagnoses include:

  • Mental Retardation
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Autism
  • Epilepsy
  • Neurological Impairment
  • Learning Disability
  • Other Developmental Disabilities

Some individuals who do not meet the above listed diagnoses may still be eligible for Supported Employment services based on VESID (Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities) eligibility.

Agency Overview
Currently over 500 individuals and their families benefit from the wide variety of services provided by ARC, such as vocational programs, community integration, therapeutic intervention and residential options. ARC focuses on assisting the developmentally disabled to actively participate in home and community life through personal skills development, employment, social activities and volunteerism.

Services & Programs

ARC Foundation

The ARC Foundation is a fundraising organization associated with the Advocacy and Resource Center. The Foundation exists to receive and administer funds for the purpose of enhancing the lives of developmentally disabled individuals living in Clinton County. Donations made to the ARC Foundation can be used to purchase special equipment not covered by any other public funding source, provide support for recreation and vacation plans for developmentally disabled individuals who have no other resources and other needs that will enhance the lives of these individuals. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible and are accepted year round.

Champlain Valley Industries

Provided in a production environment supported by commercial contracts, individuals receive personalized prevocational and vocational training that will allow them to develop skills necessary for a successful transition into a competitive employment opportunity. CVI Janitorial Services allows individuals the opportunity to receive on the job training in both commercial and government locations throughout the county.

Clinical Services

Provides Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Behavior and Counseling Services to the individuals served by the Advocacy and Resource Center's day habilitation, prevocational and residential programs.

PATH: Day Habilitation and At Home Services

Provides a variety of individualized services that focus on personal skill development, community integration and inclusion, as well as opportunities to give back to the community through volunteerism. Day Habilitation, Residential Habilitation and Hourly Respite services are available to individuals in their place of residence, at the center-based day habilitation program and in the community based on the specific funding source and the individual's needs.

Integrated Services (Medicaid Service Coordination and Workforce Network)

Provides Medicaid Service Coordination, Family Education & Training and Individualized Support Services. Integrated Services also includes Workforce Network a vocational service that provides on site job training and support to individuals employed at 60 businesses throughout Clinton County.

Nursing Services

Provides and maintains quality medical services to all individuals served. Provides advocacy and acts as liaison between individuals’ medical providers. Provide Health, Safety and Prevention programs for individuals served and all employees.

Residential Services

22 homes located throughout Clinton County provide housing to over 126 individuals. Emphasis is on individualized services for learning daily living skills, participating in recreational activities and involvement in the community. There are additional services and programs for those preparing to live independently.

Free Standing Respite Home

Available for day and over night Respite visits for intellectually or developmentally disabled individuals living with care providers/family members in the community. Currently operates Friday thru Monday and provides 24 hour staff coverage. An array of activities and outings in the community are available for Respite guests.

Transportation

Is available to and from programs throughout Clinton County for individuals receiving services in day programs..

Cost:

Individuals served must have Medicaid coverage or available alternative funding source.
