Assisting Individuals To Discover Their Own PATH

Serving Clinton County since 1954

Workforce Network
Workforce Network facilitates competitive work in integrated work settings for individuals with disabilities for whom competitive employment has not traditionally occurred, and who need ongoing support services in order to perform their job. Workforce Network provides assistance such as job coaches, assistive technology, specialized job training, and individually tailored supervision.

We provide a way to move people from dependence on a service delivery system to independence via competitive employment. Workforce Network encourages people to work within their communities and encourages work, social interaction, and integration.

Job Coach: Provides specialized job development and on-site training to assist the employee with a disability in learning and performing the job and adjusting to the work environment.

Natural supports: are support from supervisors & co-workers. These natural supports are particularly effective because they enhance the social integration between the employee with a disability and his/her co-workers and supervisor. In addition, natural supports may be more permanent, consistently and readily available, thereby facilitating long-term job-retention.

Job Development: Assess factors that will effect employment: motivation, transportation, skills, mobility, appearance, communication, social skills, work behavior skills, reinforcement needs, supports, financial considerations and preference and goals.
1). Job Analysis 2). Interest Survey’s 3). Learning Styles Survey’s 4). WFN Certificate Series

Additionally: Assist with preparing for job interviews, negotiating terms of employment with employer, identify key performance criteria and training standards. If necessary Workforce Network can also assist with procuring uniforms if necessary for employment.

Job Coaching: Job coaches assist with job orientation and assessments. They will assist with travel training, skill training and acquisition. They are an advocate for their individual with supervisors and co-workers. They will assist in getting reasonable accommodations if necessary. Overall they become the person’s life-line with work matters and outside matters should it ultimately affect employment. Job Coaches become “Life Coaches.”

What do we not do: We do not place people in jobs for the sake of getting them jobs, we do not allow them to use their disability as a “crutch”, we make them see their “ability” and have them dismiss the “dis!”

Have someone in mind who would benefit from the program: If they have a service coordinator get in contact with them, if they don’t have contact VESID at 1-800-882-2803.
